Staying informed

Here you'll find regular updates about our current projects and items of interest.

August 2019

Over the coming few weeks we'll get some new content on the site, log prices have been amended following the increase last year.

July 2017

With so much of the population using social media for everything, it has once again led to the neglect of the website. So, what's new?

Well 2016 saw an increase in the stump grinding side of the business due to more landscaping customers, this has continued into 2017 and we have invested in the brand new ZT1844 tracked stump grinder from Bandit Industries. This will increase our work rate making the business ever more efficient.

We will be returning to The Vale of Glamorgan Show on the 9th of August this year, always nice to meet customers old and new.

February 2016

Well the website has been forgotten.......Social Media is to blame along with just generally being busy.

The only real news so far this year has been the start of advertising in the local paper, work has been constant both contract work and log sales.

One of the chippers was upgraded last year to a larger turntable model which has increased efficiency.

Other than that it's been business as usual, storm force winds seem to be becoming more frequent which always messes up the diary.

March 2014

Unfortunately the news section has been sadly lacking as work has been busy and having finally signed up with Facebook the website has been neglected. So what is new?

Contracting has been steady with a very hectic period during the recent strong winds. Most recently has seen a lull in domestic works as the persistent rain has meant that lawns have been a no go area, but all the postponed work is flooding back in as we have a good bit of dry weather for a while!

Log sales have also been steady which has been a little unexpected with the mild winter we have had. Currently a lot of customers are booking deliveries for June/July for seasoned wood. Stocks are reasonable at the moment with a large amount of softwood building up. Soon we'll be putting some information on a seperate 'Logs' page about hard/soft/seasoned/green/rounds/split etc.

That's about it for now as Facebook needs updating as well and invoicing needs doing!

Edit - just added a 'Loadhandler' TM to the 4x4 pickup so log deliveries in one cubic metre loads can access more awkward spots than the tipper.

Edit 2 - We are now a 'Registered Waste Carrier' with the Environment Agency (not that we actually need to be). License No. CBDL11826.

August 2013

Thanks to all who attended the Vale Show on Wednesday, it was really good to meet so many people - customers and friends.

80% of people seemed more interested in the milling side of things, so for next year's show we'll be doing live demonstrations and possibly even some bench making!

Meanwhile back on the arb side i've got a busy few days following up all the enquiries from the show.

Also, this month has seen the launch of a Facebook page so that everyone can follow us a lot easier.

July 2013

Sorry everybody, time has flown by during this busy period and with so much being run of the mill business there has been little in the way of 'news'.

However the addition of an Alaskan Mill means that we are now able to mill trees on site. This means that we can mill your tree where it is felled, turning your tree into useable timber for you.

January 2013

Well the phone is back in action and so the smaller chipper after some maintenance.

The snow hasn't stopped us, it has however brought down a few limbs for us to tidy up!

January 2013

What a way to start the year!

The office phone is not being ignored, there is a fault in the line underground and in true British Telecom style it will be fixed within two weeks!

The divert should bring you through to the mobile, if not please call direct on 07734 943570.

Happy New Year everyone!

November 2012

Chalara Fraxinea (Ash Dieback) has appeared in Wales.

Don't panic Captain Mannering!!

So far there has been only one confirmed instance and that is in Carmarthenshire.

Chalara Fraxinea Hysteria is being witnessed already, mainly whipped up by the media and people who think they can 'earn a couple of quid' by picking up a dodgy saw on a well known online auction site - or one of the saws we had stolen recently - and run around telling people that their beloved tree has got 'that new disease', when in reality it has lost it's leaves because it is Autumn and that's what some trees do!

The prospect of losing all of our Ash is not worth thinking about. Please call us for advice if you are at all worried, we don't want them to be felled for no reason.

In the first instance please follow this link to some useful information including a video from the Forestry Commission.
